QUESTION:
The brain map I did came back showing:
Auditory processing deficits because of temporal lobe hypercoherence. I am downtraining 5-9 theta. How do I handle the hypercoherence downtraining?
I’ve heard from a few people that COHERENCE training goes more quickly than regular EEG NF (Any comment?)
ANSWER:
You can downtrain coherence using the Feedback Control panel to select “coherence sounds” and train coherence “down”.
Select the “Coherence” panel on “DIsplay Options”.
Whatever bands are selected in “Display Options” will be heard, as well as seen on the coherence panel.
The client will hear tones when the coherence goes below threshold. You can adjust the threshold using the C and c keyboard keys to make it go up or down. “c” will make the threshold increase, “C” will make it decrease. The threshold is visible as a box enclosing the coherence bars.
This should work OK, as long as you watch the threshold. Only select the frequency band you want to train in the “Display Options” control, or from the “Frequency Bands” menu on the training screen. You will train any bands that are visible, hence heard.
You can use this method to train any type of coherence, e.g. “pure”, “similarity”, “comodulation”, or “spectral correlation”
Watch for reactions to the coherence downtraining, including possible hypercoherence.
