- An extension of BrainMaster’s patented StimFlash technology, the new MicroTesla subthreshold stimulators introduce a groundbreaking dimension to neurofeedback. Serving as an alternative to traditional photic or auditory stimulation, MicroTesla devices emit extremely low levels of magnetic fields that are beneficial for neurofeedback and self-regulation. Users can control the stimulation through EEG with precise timing and protocols, or they can utilize simple multi-frequency stimulation.The MicroTesla devices are compatible with the Atlantis Photic and Auditory stimulation outputs and will work seamlessly with all existing BrainMaster AVS software. This includes the built-in immersive stimulation capabilities, as well as PC-controlled protocols like peak frequency. They also support variable frequency options and BrainMaster’s patented brainwave pattern reduction protocol (US6931275). Additionally, the devices are compatible with the repetitive stimulation steady-state evoked potential method (US7269456).When paired with the Atlantis Photic output, the MicroTesla can operate in pulsed mode at rates ranging from one pulse per minute to 300 pulses per second. The auditory output can be modulated using a sine wave pattern with frequencies from 20 Hz to 4,000 Hz. Importantly, the MicroTesla is 10,000,000 times weaker than traditional rTMS devices, which means it does not generate action potentials. Its effects are entirely subthreshold, consisting of information rather than direct control of neuronal activity.
Because the intensity is so low, the MicroTesla can operate at faster frequencies without generating heat or causing any tissue-related changes. The magnetic field strength is comparable to that of a pair of earbuds, which many people wear daily.
