Some comments re. the now classic view of frontal asymmetry activation per Davidson and Rosenfeld/Baehr. The reality is that the left hemisphere performs a serlal scan, with the contingency of producing a “safe” judgment, while the right hemisphere performs a parallel scan with the contingency of producing a “not safe” which equals “danger” judgment. These competing forces produce a net emotional response that produces a dynamic balance. Depending on the situation, one or the other direction may predominate, with the situation dictating which is the “normal” or “typical” response. All emotion is therefore within context.
