The USB to serial converter should not slow it down, assuming that it works correctly. The BrainMaster software monitors the
data, and ensures that it is coming in fast enough. You can also watch the EEG traces, to make sure they are smooth and in real-time.
But USB is capable of much faster data than we require, so it should not be a problem.
Some USB-to-serial converters may cause data loss, if they do not keep up with the data flow. This is very rare. When it occurs, the BrainMaster detects the data loss, and will continue to process when good data arrive. It is possible to see if this has occurred by using the “Data / Login Data” control panel to see if any “resyncs” have occurred. In the older software, this could produce a possible “sawtooth” appearance of the waveforms, that is readily visible. If you see this, discontinue training. To prevent it, make sure you have the current version of your software.
